Operation Christmas Shoebox

God promised to give Jericho into the Israelites’ hands, but when they would have marched into battle, He had another idea. Let’s spend seven days walking around this problem before we solve it!

We want to make progress, but God walks us in circles. We want to surge forward, but God forces us to take another lap. Why do we get so frustrated when we know that there is a lesson in every lap?

Our perspective of progress is nothing like God’s perspective. We measure success when we see what we want. God measures success when we are willing to do what He wants.

We want God to bless our businesses; He wants us to recognize Him as our Source. We want God to bless our marriages; He wants us to submit to one another. We want God to stamp out our tempers; He wants us to practice self-discipline. We want God to erase our hasty words; He wants us to control our tongues.

The next time God waves you on to another lap, stay alert for the lesson to be learned and for the wisdom He will whisper. Your willingness to put one foot in front of the other is better than any sacrifice you might make. The Lord delights in your obedience as you take another lap.

October 6th is CRUISIN with cars, food and music. Donations will be received for WRBT.

The Porch begins Friday October 4th at 5:00 pm. Great fellowship and fun as we witness for our Lord.

Operation Christmas Child kicks off in October with committee meetings and recruiting. The week of November 18th thru Monday the 25th, Franklin will receive boxes for the children and transport to Central Baptist in Concord. What a mission this is. Incredible organization for Jesus. More to come. If anyone has an enclosed trailer we could use doing this week, please see Doug Foxworth. But get ready boxes are on order.

Choir is busy getting ready for December 22 the Christmas Cantata entitled “Love Will Find You”. Remember choir practice is on the third and fourth Sunday of each month after church.

Thank you

I knelt to pray when day was done,
And prayed, O Lord, bless everyone;
Lift from each saddened heart the pain,
And let the sick be well again.”

And then I woke another day
And carelessly I went on my way.
The whole day long I did not try
To wipe a tear from any eye;

I did not try to share the load
Of any brother on my road;
I did not even go to see
The sick man just next door to me.

Yet once again when day was done
I prayed, “O Lord, bless everyone.”
But as I prayed, into my ear
There came a voice that whispered clear:

“Pause, hypocrite, before you pray;
Whom have you tried to bless today?
God’ sweet blessings always go
By hands that serve Him here below.”

And then I hid my face and cried,
“Forgive me, Lord, for I have lied;
Let me but see another day
And I will live the way I pray.””
