Update on the Pastor’s Care Ministry as of August 27, we have $148.86 that has been collected. The goal is $300.00. We will keep this open for a few more weeks and give everyone a chance to contribute. Look for the small gold envelopes. If you missed the announcement on this, the 300.00 would go towards prepaid gas and food cards for when a need arises.
Also make sure if you are interested in participating in the choir this year, the Christmas cantata is on the table in the choir room along with a CD to listen and learn the songs. We will plan to reconvene September 5th Wednesday night at 6:30pm. The Anthem, to be announced, will be for Sunday September 9th. Choir members, make sure you contact Nancy and get your order in for Jersey Mikes and we will break bread together on Wednesday night September the 5th.
Just a side note of appreciation for the church allowing the choir to take a much-needed rest during the summer months. It also allows the choir to take vacations and other family commitments during this time. The choir was thrilled when the church gave a meal in our honor. It was so appreciated.

Helping Others

I knelt to pray when day was done,
And prayed, O Lord, bless everyone;
Lift from each saddened heart the pain,
And let the sick be well again.”

And then I woke another day
And carelessly I went on my way.
The whole day long I did not try
To wipe a tear from any eye;

I did not try to share the load
Of any brother on my road;
I did not even go to see
The sick man just next door to me.

Yet once again when day was done
I prayed, “O Lord, bless everyone.”
But as I prayed, into my ear
There came a voice that whispered clear:

“Pause, hypocrite, before you pray;
Whom have you tried to bless today?
God’ sweet blessings always go
By hands that serve Him here below.”

And then I hid my face and cried,
“Forgive me, Lord, for I have lied;
Let me but see another day
And I will live the way I pray.””
